Windows XP DVD player help!? - dvd player xp

I tried to play DVDs on my laptop running Windows XP and that's simply not been at work. I had the other day and it worked perfectly with the software (I do not know what the called party) is the default on my computer. Now I am downloading this software called InterActual Player and make music of the film super powerful, but very quiet dialogue. If you tell me how to get my old DVD player again, or new books that are positive and safe for my computer, amazing would recommend it!
